Xbox Triples Its Size

60GB console goes on sale by the end of the week

It's not really the biggest surprise of all times, but at least it is an official confirmation from Microsoft: the original 20GB Xbox 36o console triples its storage capacity to 60GB, keeping the same recently lowered price: £199.99.

The new console will be available in stores across the UK starting the 15th of August, offering three times more storage space for your Rock Band DLC and other XBLA titles – therefore being a very smart addition made by the manufacturing company, since it will increase their profits, too. But, in the end, it's a win-win situation, so we must admit we're happy with that!

"No one device offers the depth and breadth of entertainment that Xbox 360 can deliver and we know consumers need increasingly more and more space to store the amazing digital entertainment content we provide." said Neil Thompson, senior regional director, Entertainment and Devices Division of Microsoft. "Now the Xbox 360 has triple the space to house all your entertainment needs at no extra cost."

The new 60GB Xbox 360 will join the already existing 256MB Arcade-version – which also comes with five Xbox Live Arcade games all for just £159.99 – and the 120GB Elite version, available for £259.99. So you can't say you'll have any problems choosing the Xbox that best fits your needs!

This decision from Microsoft to triple its storage capacity is certainly part of the company's quest to win the console war in Europe and the UK, as representatives kept saying for the past few weeks. This also comes naturally after the recent announcements from NPD, which crowned the Nintendo Wii as the best selling console in the US, and after the dreadful sales Xbox 360 had in Asia, especially in Japan. We're curious to see how this will change the European market and we'll keep you updated on the matter.

Final Fantasy Boss, More than 18 Hours to Defeat

We all appreciate a good, lengthy game, but a varied gameplay is a must or else any title will turn into a boring piece of junk. It seems that Square Enix has a completely different opinion, since reports are suggesting that a huge difficult boss in Final Fantasy XI, Pandemonium Warden, was not defeated after an entire guild fought against it for 18 hours in a row! And that is truly amazing!

The story was reported by the guys over at the Pet Food Alpha website, who said that FFXI members of the guild Beyond Limitation went to hunt down the Pandemonium Warden boss but failed to do it, even though they spent almost an entire day playing. The boss reportedly shapeshifted several times and some of these forms alone took a few hours to defeat.

Guild member Sylphet said, "People were passing out and getting physically ill. We decided to end it before we risked turning into a horrible new story about how video games ruin people’s lives... None of us doubt that Pandemonium Warden can be killed. We just call into question exactly what the development team thinks is reasonable from human beings."

18 hours of non stop gaming is definitely not reasonable. However, we are sure that Square Enix knows that, since it has a "word to our players" warning that fans of Final Fantasy XI should not forget their family, friends, school or work. Kind of tricky not to ignore them if one boss needs more than 18 hours to go down, right? Especially when a game as popular as Square's does not need such tricks to keep the audience glued to the screen.

Anyway, one thing is clear: this boss is ridiculous and needs some quick tweaking, otherwise some bad things might happen. And we don't want that – we don't need more people blaming video games for things they shouldn't be blamed for, right? Please let us know your opinion on the matter.
