GC 2008: MotoGP 08 Impressions

Capcom shows off the latest build of its upcoming motorcycle racer at the Games Convention in Leipzig.

Earlier today we met with Capcom behind closed doors to check out a number of upcoming games at the Games Convention. Among them was MotoGP 08, which we're pleased to report had a much stronger showing at this event than it did at the E3 Media and Business Summit two months ago.
Again, Capcom was eager to show off how much more accessible MotoGP 08 is going to be than previous games in the series, so the entire demo was spent in arcade rather than simulation mode. All 18 of the circuits being used in the 2008 MotoGP season will be re-created faithfully in the game, and on this occasion we got to see Spain's Jerez circuit and Qatar's Losail circuit--the latter of which is relatively undeveloped and located in the middle of a desert.
The 125cc race we watched at Losail afforded us our first opportunity to see MotoGP 08's nighttime visuals. Since the circuit is well floodlit, the difference isn't so dramatic that you can see only what your headlights are illuminating, but the game still has a very different look. The sky is almost black, the circuit is very brightly lit, and the multiple shadows being cast by the bikes at all times are really impressive. The bikes themselves also look sharp, by the way, and are covered in sponsor decals as you'd expect.
Impressively, the 125cc race featured no fewer than 35 bikes on the circuit simultaneously, which afforded us plenty of opportunities to see how forgiving the arcade mode is after most collisions. We got to see the guy playing fall off his bike several times, but that was only after some pretty significant bumps with other bikes, and even then he was back in the saddle and racing again within seconds.
The MotoGP races, which use much more powerful bikes, support only 18 racers simultaneously, just like the real-world events. All of the riders, bikes, and teams are real, but you'll also have the option to create your own rider to play as in MotoGP 08's career mode. We didn't get to see much of the career mode on this occasion, but it's clear that you'll be forced to start at the bottom and work your way up through the rankings before many of the teams will even consider employing you. Only four teams appear to be available from the outset, but by performing well and earning points you can attract the attention of other teams and get yourself a better ride for the next season. Points can also be spent on upgrades to improve your performance, but it's not clear how that system will work at this time.
MotoGP 08 is currently scheduled for release for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, PlayStation 2, and Wii in October. We haven't seen anything of the Wii version yet, but we're told that it lets you play holding the controllers in positions that mimick the handlebars on a bike. We'll bring you more information on all five versions of MotoGP 08 as soon as it becomes available.

Deadliest Catch: Alaskan Storm Review

In the realm of videogames, unusual releases are both highly anticipated and regularly abhorred. Where one gamer sees a unique diamond in the rough, another gamer will see something terrible.
Based on the hit Discovery Channel show Deadliest Catch, Alaskan Storm is a true simulation of the experience portrayed throughout the series. For those unfamiliar with the show, Deadliest Catch follows the lives of Alaskan crab fishermen who risk life and limb for the massive amounts of money involved in their industry. And if you think I'm being facetious in my risk comment, keep in mind that crabbing off of Alaska's Aleutian Islands is considered one of the world's deadliest jobs… hence the name of the show and game.

Alaskan Storm is a simulation and strategy game through and through, requiring critical thinking and planning to succeed. If you're not a fan of sims, you should know immediately that this game isn't for you. The experience that it does provide for fans of the show and fans of simulation-style games is a deep and engrossing one, however. Its crossover appeal between fanatics of the show and fans of simulation games in general is immediately evident as soon as you start up a new career, for you can either pick from some of the show's better-known ships (such as the Northwestern) or create your own from thin air. But that only scratches the surface of the game's depth. After choosing your ship, you have to hire a crew, outfit your ship with fuel, buy bait and other crabbing essentials and plot a route before you even leave the harbor.

Hiring your crew is perhaps the most daunting of your early tasks in the game, because there's a lot to balance out and consider. The more desirable crew members, those who have extensive skills and experience, can't provide the makeup of your entire party. They simply cost too much. Instead, you'll have to balance out your party between experienced members and outright novices (called greenhorns) who are completely new to crabbing. You'll also have to keep an eye out for the individual skills of each member of your party so that all five jobs – Deck Boss, Engineer, Medic, Cook and Bait Boy – can be filled out to the best of each member's ability. When you've done that, you then have to carefully balance out your purchased cargo, because no ship can carry the maximum amount of fuel, bait and pots you'll want to have with you. Instead, you'll have to compromise one for the other, over and over again as you play.

If you're not a fan of the television show then you will be introduced to a lot of new terminology while playing the game. For instance, the term "pots" refers to the bait-lined traps crabbers drop into the water to lure in their catch, while a "bait boy" is usually the lowest ranking member of a ship's team who prepares pots for deployment. This can be incredibly confusing, but that's where Captain Sig Hansen comes into play. Captain Sig is the most well-known ship captain from the Discovery Channel show, and he appears in the game time and time again to explain what's going on around you.

These videos offer a real draw to fans of the show, but their importance is much greater than that, because Sig will let you know when you're doing something right or something wrong, especially during the game's lengthy opening tutorial. He'll appear less and less as you start moving through the game's crabbing seasons (usually only when you've done something you haven't done before, such as stacking a pot instead of redeploying it in an area chock-full of crabs), but his appearance certainly ties together the game and the license nicely. Developers Liquid Dragon Studios should certainly be commended for making sure the game absolutely reeks of its license.

While playing through a crabbing career with your chosen vessel, the game is made up of three primary parts. The first is preparation, where you will establish a crew, outfit your ship and create an initial route using the pre-determined and highly-important knowledge found on your particular season's map. This map will tell you where the crabs are found in great numbers, where competing ships are located, and where your pots have already been dropped. The second part is finding a great place to crab, preparing your pots, and subsequently dropping them. This part of the game is perhaps the most time-consuming and monotonous, though it's as true to the actual experience as a game can possibly come.

The third step is definitely the most important to your overall success (or lack thereof) in any given season. After letting your submerged pots "soak" for a while (Captain Sig recommends a soaking of at least forty-eight hours), you'll have to go back to them and bring them to the surface to see how you did. Driving slowly next to each pot as it's brought on deck is the first of two highly rewarding parts of the experience. But it's the decisions you make all the while that are also integral to your success. While your pots soak, will you let time pass by (using the ultra-useful fast time option)? Will you head to another part of the sea to place more pots? Will you go to town to make necessary repairs and refill your inventory? It's this use of time that must be considered if you are to advance through the game. Just remember – once you've brought your well-soaked pots to the surface, be sure to head one of the game's ports to sell your catch. After all, money is the bottom-line. You also need to keep your crew happy and well-rested, so figuring out ways to do that should always be in the back of your mind as well.

There are numerous positives to the game, such as the ultra realistic way your vessel is controlled. But Alaskan Storm isn't without equally-numerous problems. One will immediately notice upon turning the game on that its visuals are decidedly last-gen. With the exception of the water, which looks surprisingly realistic, Alaskan Storm won't impress you with its graphics. In fact, it might be a turn off for some gamers. What's more, the in-game voice acting is irritating, the sounds of your ship and your surrounding environment are grating and monotonous, and the frame rate isn't only choppy, it's downright deplorable. Throw in the fact that the game froze up on us several times during our playthrough (including at one especially inconvenient time when I had just finished a rather successful freshman season), and you'll quickly realize that Alaskan Storm suffers from serious problems. The lengthy load times would suggest that the game would look a lot better than it does, but it just isn't so.

And even though the gameplay is true to the experience, it can be mundane. Alaskan Storm represents a tight simulation, but how exciting can crabbing really be when done ad infinitum? Do our aforementioned three steps above over and over and over again, and you might tire of this game quickly. There's strategy aplenty to be employed, but the game leaves a lot to chance (a la Oregon Trail), which will just frustrate you. Your well-rested Deck Boss just broke his finger. So, he'll need eight hours to rest (what?), which means the rest of your crew can't cast or retrieve pots. Have this happen to you at the most inconvenient times of a season over and over again, and you might find your controller flying across the room. In other words, plan and strategize as you will, random variables will still throw a wrench in your wheels. That's fine, of course, but your ship experiencing random problems during a storm when you're trying to retrieve your pots is only endearing one time. The more you're stymied, the more frustrated you're bound to become.

Alaskan Storm is littered with missions and mini-games that will break up the monotony, but they aren't incredibly well thought-out or compelling. In fact, it's the career mode that's makes up a vast majority of the game, and once you've had your fill of that it's doubtful you'll be back for much more. One major improvement over its earlier-released cousin on Xbox360, however, is that the PC controls are vastly, vastly superior to the console version. This deserves mention, because games like this were made for the PC, not consoles. Those who enjoyed the game on Xbox360 but found it too tedious to control might want to give the game another go on the PC.

Closing Comments

Deadliest Catch: Alaskan Storm balances the good and the bad, and it manages to fall somewhere just above mediocrity. The delivery of the crabbing experience is as right on as can be, and the fact that this game was made at all can be construed as a step in the right direction for an industry overwhelmed with the same old shooters, RPGs and trite hack-and-slash titles. But the game lacks any polish, and that's certainly a huge negative. What's more, taste aside, can a game about crabbing really be compelling above the novelty that surrounds it? In my opinion -- no, not really. The game has depth, and that counts for something, but it will have absolutely no appeal to people who aren't fans of the show or the genre. And even those who find the game fun for a while will be hard-pressed to find it fun season after season. Unless you're a super fan of the show, or this kind of simulation appeals to you greatly, I recommend renting before you buy.

Heavy Rain: The Origami Killer

Format PlayStation 3
Developer Quantic Dream
Publisher
Genre Adventure

The mystery behind Heavy Rain became a little clearer today after Quantic Dreams walked us through an incredible playable demo.First up, the full name of the game is Heavy Rain: The Origami Killer. The title is important to the game's plot, but Quantic Dreams held back on why. Needless to say it's got something to do with paper folding and killing. Or has it? Yes, of course it has. Anyway, the demo shown to us was a short level in which the lead character - a female newspaper journalist named Madison - goes to the house of a suspected serial killer to snoop around for info.
You control the leading lady from a third-person perspective, with the camera taking up cinematic positions in the environment as you walk through it. Think Silent Hill and you'll get the idea. It might sound odd but you walk forward by pulling the R2 trigger. Instead of directly controlling which direction she walks, the left analogue stick moves her head and she'll adjust herself to move in that direction in a natural way.

It's not on rails - you can make her walk in any direction you want - you just control her head and that indirectly controls her direction. The whole game places emphasis on choice and making true-to-life scenarios and decisions. For example, when you approach the house you get the choice of whether to knock or ring the doorbell. Speech appears around a SixAxis-shaped icon and you can choose to speak as you knock by tilting the pad in the direction of the phrase you want to say. Groovy stuff. SixAxis control is also used in other contexts, such as shaking it up and down to open a stiff window or shoving the pad forwards to push a barrel so you can stand on it and peek through the window.

Once inside the house we find out that everything is interactive. EVERYTHING. It's like a new-age Shenmue, giving you the investigative freedom to check out just about anything.Later in the demo, we discover dead bodies upstairs, at which point the killer returns home. With the screen split down the middle, you can see him on the left as he enters the house and gets a beer from the fridge, while you're on the right. Here's where the game's choice and open-ended nature is exposed. According to Quantic Dreams, at this point you could sneak out, attack and kill him or call the police and hide until they get there. If he notices anything you moved or looked at, or hears a noise he'll get suspicious and look for you, at which point you can hide in any number of places in each of the rooms. Get caught and it activates a QTE-style chase scene, similar in ways to Shenmue, but you have more control over your character.

The real interesting thing is that Quantic Dreams promises that, no matter what happens, the story will progress, whether you kill him, escape or are killed yourself. Yes, even the main character can be killed and the story will continue, says Quantic. The devs didn't go into too much detail about how that actually works, but it says the whole plot is effected by every scene that you play, and your actions have consequences on the entire story.

Graphically, it looks incredible, particularly in the cluttered interior of house. And a solemn piano background ambience really sets the tone of the mood. The demo was short but detailed and gripping enough to get our Spidey sense buzzing. Quantic Dreams stressed that the events in the demo are entirely separate from the main story in the game. Which really does leave us wondering what we can expect from the final game. Before that though, in fact way before that, we'll bring you more details on all of the clever control nuances and the events of what we have to call an incredible demo.

Burnout Paradise Coming to PC in January 2009

Burnout Paradise for the PC was announced a while ago but has taken a backseat to the updates which brings bikes and a new island into the game.We finally now have some additional news regarding the PC version of Burnout Paradise, including a release date. At GC 2008, EA set up a booth to show off the game.

The PC setup at the EA booth was magnificent, with three monitors being fed simultaneously using a box from manufacturer Matrox. While the images from the side monitors were slightly stretched, the added viewing angle really made it easier to take down enemies. The PC version will also support the same camera functionality as console versions, meaning you'll be able to use any USB webcam to capture images for your licenses and online takedowns. As for other PC features, the development team claims that it might tweak the single-player progression slightly, but it still has to finalise the details.

We also confirm that Burnout Paradise should be coming to PC in January 2009. System requirements are yet unknown. As soon as we know them we'll post them here.

Now enter the debug screen again, hit "layout enemy", then "select camera owner", then hit the last number the apears on the second page of the "camera owner screen" (except on level 10 witch is number 23 because Onikage is not the final boss of this level). Now you will be able to play as Onikage and see him as if you were playing with Rikymaru or Ayame. You can also add any iten to Onikage, except the "grapling hook", but you can use the item "the world" instead, witch will move Onikage to the spot you are amming at. This code can also be use for Lord Meyo (number 24 on level 10 only) or any other enemy that you know the "camera owner" number.
IMPORTANT!!!: You must get the number of the enemy that you want to use just right or the camera will go to another place of the level and you will have to reapear the enemy that you were using and the items again. Have fun kicking some butt with Onikage!
Los of free items...the hard way
Go to training and try to get grand master, then Lord Gohda will give you one item each time you get grand master.

First do the play as Onikage code only you don't have to pick Onikage. Just pick any character and hit go. Then run away, when you come back your character will do everything you say. Position your character to be looking at you, jump and hit square in the air and it will hit you. Then pick select camera owner and then pick the last number and you're set.Note: this code is glitchy so don't try to use all different kinds of weapons or the game will freeze

Japanese Dialogue (PAL Version)
On the mission select screen, hold L1 and press: Square, Square, Triangle, Triangle, Right, Right, Up, Down. When the cinematics come up, the characters will speak Japanese. To turn the Japanese dialogue off, go to the mission select screen and do the cheat again. NOTE: This may not work on every stage.

Majesty 2: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim (PC)

It's been eight years since the original Majesty appeared on the PC gaming scene with its own unique take on fantasy gaming.

The premise of the gameplay was simple, simultaneously original... and frustrating. You were the ruling monarch of a fantasy kingdom, and while you could set the tax rates, recruit heroes, and build whatever buildings you liked, you had no direct control over the actual citizens of your kingdom. Meeting their needs while persuading them to accomplish your goals was at various times challenging, hysterical, frustrating and fun.

The good news for fans who can still remember the original is that the license has changed hands and a sequel is on its way. Paradox Interactive and 1C are teaming up to update the franchise, starting from the ground up with all-new graphics but keeping the same feel as the original. Once more the trick will be to run your kingdom without direct control, although this time around representatives from Paradox say they're trying to give players a few more options for directly managing the action

How's it work? Your Kingdom begins with an ornate fantasy castle representing your opulent seat of command. From there you can construct buildings, similar to any real-time strategy game. Building farmhouses for the peasants is a good way to generate incremental tax revenue, and guard towers will help defend your city by themselves and with the help of wandering guards. But to really get stuff done your kingdom is going to need heroes. Building guild halls will allow you to recruit adventurers to your kingdom, of which there are 10 different classes representing classic fantasy archetypes like Warrior, Mage, Paladin, Rogue, Ranger, Barbarian, and so on. Every hero starts out at level one with crappy equipment, something we can all relate to.

But once a hero enters your kingdom they're on their own -- you can't tell them what to do. And you quickly discover heroes are whiny little brats, a whole army of munchkin roleplayers. All they want is loot! Experience! Treasure! Equipment! They'll start roaming around your kingdom looking for monsters to fight.

You can support the efforts of your heroes by making sure they have amenities back home. That includes taverns to recover in, blacksmiths to buy weapons from, marketplaces to buy potions at, magic stores to enchant their equipment, and so in. Every time a hero drops some big money to buy a shiny new piece of equipment, you get a cut of the revenue -- that's how you benefit from your heroes and their adventures.

Once you've got enough money rolling in you can begin to try to manipulate the world a little more firsthand. In Majesty 2 you can spend money to directly cast spells in the game world, healing your allies or smiting monsters you don't like. But also, as in the original, you can set bounties on objectives. If you plant a flag on a troublesome troll that awards 500 gold to the adventurer who slays it, you can bet your royal butt that your greedy self-serving adventurers will flock to the scene.

Here at GameSpy we always thought the original Majesty was a real treat -- a little frustrating at times but uniquely different. Our brief demo of the game at Leipzig didn't reveal to us anything dramatically different about the new game, but that might not be a bad thing, as there's a whole new generation of gamers who never got a chance to play the original. One thing that we hope translates across to the new developers is the ridiculous sense of humor of the original game, whose lampooning of fantasy archetypes made the gameplay enjoyable even at its most frustrating. (You'll note that the trailer above is done totally "straight," which makes us worry the game will take itself too seriously.) Paradox is looking to publish the sequel in early 2009.

Call of Duty 4 Cheats and Hints!

Cheat

Cheats are unlocked not by inserting passwords, but by acquiring the thirty Intel Pieces strewn throughout the game. The more of them you collect, the more cheats you can access. On the left are the number of Intel Pieces collected, and on the right are the cheats that are unlocked, with an explanation of what each does.

2 - "CoD Noir" Play the game in black and white.

4 - "Photo-Negative" Game colors become inverted.

To unlock Arcade Mode, beat the game once through on any difficulty level. Arcade Mode itself is split into two options - Full Challenge or Level Challenge - that add extra replayability to the game.

Unlockable: Prestige Mode

To unlock Prestige Mode, which is a multiplayer-only mode, you must reach experience level fifty-five. Instead of capping out at level fifty-five, which is the highest level, Prestige Mode allows you to start again from level one. This can be done a total of ten times, giving you ten different icons in in-game lobbies to show your extreme achievement.

Unlockable: New Mission

To play an all-new mission, which is an extra mission after the main quest is completed, beat the game and view the ending credits thereafter. After they've run their course, you will then be given the opportunity to play one last single player mission before all is said and done.

When you unlock something at the end of the game (such as the Overkill Perk), immediately log out of your account and sign into the lesser account. Head to the Xbox Live game lobby and press Y, and the game will have unlocked for this particular account whatever you unlocked with the first account.

A whole new level of massiveness: EndWar will be an online multiplayer experience unlike anything you've ever encountered. Sixteen-player matchups? Try hundreds. Thirty-minute battles? Try persistent matchups lasting for months at a time. This isn't a skirmish, this is World War III

About This Game

Two years after the Helghast assault on Vekta, the ISA is bringing the fight to the enemy’s home world of Helghan. Taking the role of Sev, the battle-hardened veteran of the special forces unit known as the Legion, players will embark upon a mission to the planet Helghan to capture the Helghast leader, Emperor Visari, and bring the enemy’s war machine to a halt. For Sev and his squad, the invasion of Helghan is just the beginning. Tasked with securing Pyrrhus, the Capital City, the team quickly discovers that the Helghast are a formidable enemy on their home planet. Not only have they adjusted to the planet’s hostile conditions, they have also harnessed a source of power from the environment that can be used against the ISA. Sev and his team soon discover the fight is greater than simply addressing the enemy forces; the Legion must also learn how to handle the effects of the fierce enemy planet.
Genre: First-Person Shooter
Exclusively on PlayStation 3

Release Date: February 1, 2009

General Features

Experience realistic, highly atmospheric environments that respond dynamically to the violent conditions on the planet Helghan.

Witness the devastating effects of Helghan's climate as it forces you and your enemies to adapt to new tactics.

Control an arsenal of new and unique weapons and vehicles, in addition to trusty Killzone classics like the M82-G and the StA-52 LA.

Face off against fearsome enemies who have learned to wield the hostility of Helghan itself against their opponents.

Between Killzone 2's unique visual style, the power of PS3, the use of EDGE tools, and the proprietary technology developed by Guerrilla, the game promises to impress players with its benchmark visuals, smooth character animation, detailed, effect-laden environments, and realtime cutscenes.

Experience a beautifully lit world brought to life by deferred rendering technology. Multiple shadows casting light sources bring out the highly detailed environments and character animations.

With true next-gen audio the player is further immersed in the world, supporting 7.1 surround and location-specific audio with wave tracing. Players will not only notice the difference between indoor and outdoor but also experience sound and music that are dynamic and contextual.

Studio grade special effects will provide unprecedented visual fidelity. With full screen anti-aliasing, motion blur, internal lens reflections, and depth-based color grading, players will experience a picture that is sharp, smooth, and full of detail.

HInt - Easy Fast Swinger Achievement
Your goal is to swing 200 miles per hour. This may seem impossible but there is a trick:

1. Head to the rooftop of the Daily Bugle. 2. Run to the triangular tip of the building.

2 metal cylinders next to each other near the end.

3. There will be

4. When near them, you will see an X button appear on screen.

5. Before pressing BLUE, face towards Central Park (just check your map).

6. Press BLUE and you will see an animation of the left thumbstick pushing downward.

7. Keep pushing downward on the left thumbstick.

8. You will let go and start flying.

9. You should land in one of the lakes in Central Park.

10. You should see the achievment confimation.

Hint - Black Suit Follies
Complete all 26 story missions, clear the final Sandman fight and you can play through the second time with the black suit Spider-man. You can also get it by beating the game and going to the upgrades section on the pause menu. Then go down to playable characters to be Venom, New Goblin, Sandman, Lizard, or Black Suit Spidey.

Hint - Kingpin Battle
Hit YELLOW twice and then when the punch icon appears above Kingpin's head, hold LB until he misses. Afterwards, hit YELLOW instead of BLUE to do the Hurricane Counter move. This damages him, unlike most moves and builds Spidey's rage. When a rage attack is available, use it and keep hitting YELLOW instead of doing the Super Attack. This should knock out the boss quickly and more effectively than not.

Volkswagen W12 Roadster: You must finish all Hitch-Hiker driving missions.
Walmaealamae Haven of Peace: Discover all roads on the island and you will be given this house.

Hint - Median Exploitation
If you have 2 long roads beside each other, with a thin grass median in between the roads, you can use the instant challenges, and the computer player will follow the road, while you can just drive over the grass and finish in about 10 seconds.

Hint - N00Bs Starting Cash
The easiest way to make money early in the game are the "Delivery Missions". Most of the early ones start out at $80,000. And if you can deliver the car in perfect condition you get a big bonus. Plus there is no time limit on these missions so you can take as long as you want to get from point A to point B. I made enough money from 6 - 8 delivery missions to buy a second house and 4 more cars and I still have around $200,000 to play with. The added benefit to these missions is to force you to drive more and learn the various qualities of each road and track on the island. Experience with the game is no substitute for a huge bank balance!

Hint - N00b Cash #2
There is a challenge at the South East corner of the island, which requires you to top 140 miles per hour on a winding road. When the challenge starts, simply spin the car round (after making sure you pass the start line), and head to the road behind you. There's no finish line, so by turning left or right you're on a nice straight road where you can hit 140 in about 10 to 15 seconds, then just hit the A button to finish. You make $10k for doing this, in less than 30 seconds, then can simply repeat to make some quick easy cash!

Hint - Key Location Detection
Even if you didn't unlock things yet, you can zoom into the map as far as it will go and look for black squares. Places such as clothing shops, vehicle showfloors, and many other places show up as a black square. Just set your marker and go check it out!

Hint - Who Wants To Exploit A Millionaire?
When you reach Expert level a new timed race will show up called "The Millionaires Challenge" which is a $1,000,000 race... The best way to win this race is to buy a MV Agusta motorcycle, and upgrade it to level 3. Then you can race the race with only a type "A" car, or motorcycle. You can do the race as many times that you wish. I earn about $30,000,000 a day on there, and now have around $150,000,000 and 12 houses with 56 cars. It is a 60 minute race and I finish it in about 49 minutes... So have fun making a lot of money!

Hint - N00B Cash #3
In the bottom right hand section of the island is a race called "170mph in heavy traffic". You can do this race over and over and get $15,000 every time. When you become a champion, there is another race called "180mph in heavy traffic" in the middle of the map; the reward is $70,000 and again you can do this as many times as you want. If you're driving a stage 3 Enzo, this race takes about 15 seconds, which means you'll have $1 million in about 10 minutes, so dont waste your time doing the millionaire's challenge anymore.

Hint - NOOB Cash #4
If you are a champion and own at Ford GT with a level 3 tune-up, you can enter the Ford "Ford day" Race to the left of the Honolulu Airport. The Race gives you $75'000 every time you win, and the race only takes about a minute. So just restart every time you cross the finishline, and in about 10 minutes will have made $750'000.

Hint - Non-N00b Hint That's Kinda Long And Detailed
At the Pro level, you can do "170 mph in heavy traffic" located just north-east of Diamondhead. Its not hard to obtain $71,000 to acquire a Corvette Z06 Coupe in which you can complete this in less than 25 seconds. Hit GREEN, then YELLOW to restart and you're off again. Get good at this and you will make about $30,000 a minute... the car will pay for itself in no time and you can tune it to reduce the time to 170 mph and make your money faster.

You could also invest the money into a Saleen S7 and get that money in under 15 seconds and then your income will double. When you reach the Champion level, you can do "180 mph in heavy traffic" and make that $70,000 in around 20 seconds or less. You just have to do a quick 180 degree turn at the start and go the other way. You'll thank me for that hint.

Need for Speed: Undercover Coming

EA's seminal racing franchise gets yet another new name, and likely a change in focus.

To no one's surprise, EA is set to release the next installment in the Need for Speed franchise later this year in the form of Need for Speed: Undercover. In an interview with gamesindustry.biz Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello said that the title is in development from one of EA Vancouver's two NFS teams. He also hinted that its inspiration comes from movies like The Transporter, though we'll have to wait and see what he means by that. The single previous Need for Speed team was split into two last year to allow each of the two teams more time to create yearly updates for the franchise. Rather than giving one team only 12 months to create the next installment, each team would now have a full two years, with the teams trading release years, obviously. Being that the team was only split last year, the Undercover team will only have a little over 16 months to create the title, but the extra breathing room must certainly welcome in any case.In the interview, Riccitiello also discussed his disappointment with last year's Need for Speed ProStreet, and said that the reason for splitting the team into to two was to help insure that future titles would actually be a worthy experience. No consoles were specified for Undercover, but given the franchise's history, we'd expect to see it hit every major system.

Easy "Equal Skill And Power" achievement

To get the "Equal Skill And Power" achievement, have Siegfried's fighting style leveled to at least 4. To do this, attach the following equipment:

Helmet: Hero's Band
Mask: Hannya Mask
Neckless/Cape: Embroidered Cape
Shoulders: Nightmare Pauldron
Undergarment: Usurper's Suit
Shirt: Executioner's Breastplate
Gloves: Iron Gauntlets
Pants: Paladin's Fauld
Socks: Shinobi Tabi
Boots: Lusca Sabatons
Weapon: Take Off (surfboard)

Once you have all of those items attached, go to "Skills", and add the following:

Auto Counter C
Double-Edged Sword
Soul Gauge Boost B
Auto Impact B

Save and exit, and you will get a message stating that you got the achievement. The newly created hero will look rather bad and can be deleted after the achievement is received.

Another way to get this achievement easily is to have Raphael's skill leveled to 3. Note: You may have to play through the Tower Of Lost Souls to unlock some items.

Helmet: Hero Band
Eyeware: None
Neck: Guardian's Neck Cloth
Shoulder: Pauldrons
Undergarments: Protective Tatoo
Upper Body: Paladin's Curiass
Arm: Engraved Gauntlets
Lower Body: Guimian Yecha
Ankle: Shinobi Tabi
Leg: Warthog Boots
Weapon: Estoc
Skill: Willpower
Skill: HP Drain B
Skill: Nullify Counter C
Skill: Impact Heal

Using Raphael or your created fighter, you can make the fighter look better by changing the entire base color set to black and have the headband's second color, the upper body's third and fourth color, and the lower body's second and fourth color white. Add white unkempt hair and eyes for additional effect.

Easy "Scorpion's Sting" achievement

To perform a Critical Finish, get your opponent's Soul Gauge down to blinking red status, then hit him or her with a powerful attack. If they try to block it, they will get a red glowing ring around them for one or two seconds. When this happens, quickly press LB. If done correctly, you will see a short intermission sequence of your character beating your opponent.

Easy "The Controller" and "Wild Run to Tragedy" achievements

Successfully complete Story mode with Siegfried to unlock the Soul Calibur (final form) and Nightmare to unlock the Soul Edge (final form). You can do this on the Normal or Hard difficulty. When you unlock these weapons, you will be able to purchase them for 30,000 gold each.
